Weekend Visitors October 3, 2007Posted by smooregasbord in Around Town, General.
So this past weekend, we had visitors! One of our best friends (and my former college roommate), Sarah, and two of her friends from Raleigh came to visit us. It was very exciting to get to spend time with her and meet her friends (Katie and Michelle) and see the sights in DC.
They actually spent all day Friday downtown and took a tour of the Capitol Building (photo of the rotunda shown below), the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, the World War II Memorial, and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.
Saturday we went up into the Washington Monument which was a lot of fun and offers great views of the city! I highly recommend visiting their website and reserving your tickets ahead of time for a fee of $1.50 each.
Lastly, the National Cathedral was having their Centennial Celebration and Saturday was their “open house”. It was a great opportunity to see all aspects of the Cathedral. The architecture is very beautiful.
Thanks for visiting guys! We had a great time!!
