My mom is a sucker for many things, but kitchenware seems to top her list. If there is ever anything we need for our kitchen, I go shopping at mom’s first because chances are she has two (or more) of whatever I need. And not just crappy, run-of-the-mill stuff, GOOD STUFF…Pampered Chef, Tupperware, Wolfgang Puck, KitchenAid. It’s really quite ridiculous, mainly because she doesn’t cook all that much anymore.

Every now and then she purchases items that our whole family will make fun of her for. For example, she purchased an entire set of waterless cookware which is supposed to help you cook with less (or no) fat. It cost about a quatra-zillion dollars and she’s never used it. Of course, none of us use it either because we knew it was a gimmick from the first day she brought it home. Her most recent purchase was from HSN. Did I mention that she is obsessed with QVC and HSN?! The AGONY! Ok, so her most recent purchase was GreenPan cookware. My dad was a total skeptic because he said that it felt so “cheap” at first touch….until he tried it! When we were visiting home a few weekends back, they gave us one of their GreenPan pieces because we had suffered a skillet death at our household. I, too, was filled with skepticism. “Whatever! It’s a pan. Whoop-tee-doo!” Then I made stirfry in it last night. It ROCKED! It’s fairly lightweight, scratch-resistant, totally non-stick, and just cooked wonderfully.

Here’s the deal that makes it even more appealing: it’s environmentally friendly. Say what? That’s right. Thermolon technology is what makes it non-stick. Using this technology “releases 50% fewer greenhouse-gases during production and contains no toxic substances that could be released at high temperatures”.

Don’t just take my word for it. Check out these sites to read what others had to say:
