You be the judge. Check out this story that ran on 60 Minutes this past Sunday. Of course, Mr. Weller, who argues that getting rid of the penny and rounding prices up to the nearest nickel would cost Americans $600 million a year, also seems a little biased in the fact that he is a lobbyist for the zinc industry. Fact: Pennies are made up of 98% zinc.
I’d have to say that after rolling about $20 in pennies this past weekend, I wouldn’t be sad to bid the penny adieu. However, it was kind of exciting to find a wheatie in the bunch.
