Woke up this morning and took my shower.  Slid into my two-tone Umbro shorts and topped it with a hypercolor t-shirt.  Laced up my LA Gear Brats. Threw my slap bracelet around my wrist. My bangs looked great with the spray of some Aqua Net. Added the final touch of a scrunchie in my hair and some Wet ‘n Wild glitter gloss on my lips. I wanted to make sure that I had all The Right Stuff. I was ready to get Hangin’ Tough with my gal pals. Casey looked at me as I was walking out the door and said, “Please Don’t Go Girl.” I said, “You know how I roll…Step By Step.” I gave myself one more look in the mirror, practiced my dance, and out the door I went. It was gonna be a great day, May 16, 1988. WHAT!?!?!?!?

Oh, thank goodness, it was all just a dream. I flip on the Today Show and there they are…NKOTB. Holy Cow, what year is it?! I check a calendar. It’s 2008! What are the New Kids doing on the Today Show? Oh, promoting their new album, Summertime. Can you say deja vu?!

Next thing you know Kelly Taylor will be on a 90210 spin off. What? Not that too! My world is spiraling out of control!!

bed linerMonday night tv-watching is pretty boring up until the 10:00 hour when The Hills comes on and I get sucked into the lives of LC, Heidi, Spencer, Audrina, and Whitney. This past Monday night was no different and then I came across Ocean Force: Panama City on truTV. I haven’t been this excited about a show since Steve was breaking up fights on Jerry Springer during my jr/sr year of college. This is Cops on crack, the Redneck Riviera version. I have a lot of admiration for those cops and lifeguards because based on some of their spring break interactions I would be pepper-spraying every teen in sight. I also now have a greater appreciation for why my parents never let me go places like this on spring break.

The funniest thing I saw on Monday night’s episode was a couple of guys who were obviously strung out on something laying in the back of a pickup truck in a beach access parking lot. The patrol shows up and asks them to get out of the truck so they could ask them some questions and assess the situation. All of them get out but one. He seems to be moving an object that is invisible to the rest of the human race. Finally, the patrol officer asks him what he is doing. He says, “I’m trying to get the wrinkles out.” He was referring to the bed liner in his truck (see photo). The officer replies with, “How’s that going for ya?”

Simmons Family JewelsI was flipping through the channels last night looking for something to watch. Then there it was on A&E, the season premiere of Gene Simmons Family Jewels. I know, you think I’m totally lame. I got hooked on this show last year, and it is absolutely hysterical! For all the trash-talking, Gene is actually pretty normal. His wife girlfriend, Shannon, is a riot, and his kids, Nick and Sophie, are quite witty.  It’s a definite must see!
GO TEAM TWEED!!

Last night, I was watching Nightline and they did a story on the use of stem cells to improve joint issues suffered by animals. It was quite intriguing and currently this procedure has only been used in horses and dogs. Basically, fat deposits are taken from the animal and sent off to a company (Vet-Stem) who extracts the stem cells. The extracted stem cells are then injected back into the ‘patient’. There is little chance of rejection since you’re using cells from the patients’ own body. Owners have reported seeing vast improvement in their pets within the first month. Ain’t technology grand?!

Well, Monday night marked the season premiere for No Reservations on the Travel Channel. I heart Anthony Bourdain. I’m not sure if it’s his sarcastic wit, his dry sense of humor, or his no fear attitude at eating almost anything. All of this to state that I missed the premiere….oh, the humanity! I was stuck on a flight from LA to DC. While away on vacation, the Travel Channel was doing a marathon of episodes from last season and I found myself dying to visit a multitude of Asian countries/cities. On the flip side, some of the episodes gave me the sinking feeling that if I were to eat what he was eating that I would spend a good 24 hours riding the ‘porcelain bus’ (I’m simply quoting)! This season promises to be extra exciting as we watch Tony, as he is referred to by friends (and since I’m an avid fan I consider myself among his closest…duh), get tasered and eat a beating cobra heart. Now that’s good tv watching.

Sucking the Pictures Right Out of Your Camera December 4, 2007

I was watching a segment on the Today Show Monday morning about technology gifts for the holidays.  They featured a lot of cool gifts, but one item in particular stood out to me….Eye-Fi. This is a wireless SD card which communicates with your home’s wireless network to pull the pictures right off of your camera when it’s within range (45-90+ ft). How cool is that?! The card works with virtually any camera that uses an SD card, and it holds up to 2 GB of photos. The other cool thing is that you can instruct it to place the photos in multiple locations such as your hard drive, Shutterfly, Flickr, or other various web locales.

Funniest thing I’ve read since her Cesar post

If you don’t get it, forget it. You’re obviously not tuning in to MTV on Monday nights.

“O” So Faking It November 27, 2007

I was watching Oprah’s Favorite Things which she filmed in Macon, Georgia, in celebration of their town giving her show the highest ratings. I almost couldn’t get through the episode listening to her fake southern draw! I know that she was born and raised in the South, but c’mon. When, during any one of her regular shows, do you ever hear her sound like a character out of Fried Green Tomatoes?! Yeah, right. It was just so annoying. If you’re from the South embrace it, but don’t take it so far that even Southern people don’t want to listen to you.

Prior to watching the show, which I recorded, I told Casey that I hope nothing I love is on her list because I won’t be able to get my hands on it for months. Well, for the most part, I was in the clear until she mentioned the Ciao Bella Blood Orange Sorbet. If you haven’t tried this stuff, it is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G…not to mention, fairly good for you (Blood Orange is fat free and only a whopping 98 calories per half cup serving)! Blood Orange is my absolute favorite, but the Coconut comes in at a close second.

Milking Camels Has Never Made Me Laugh So Hard November 20, 2007

Did anyone watch the Amazing Race on Sunday night? I don’t normally watch this show, but happened to run across it while flipping channels. With an episode name like “Please Lord, Give Me Milk”, how can you go wrong?! I don’t mean to laugh at someone’s misfortune, but I’ve never seen someone get beaten down by a camel. Poor Lorena. That girl was already freaked out by the camel.  Then she got whacked by the camel’s tail which knocked milk out of her bowl. Then she got whacked in the head by the camel’s tail which caused her to go even more hysterical.  Then the camel kicked her bowl, multiple times, causing her to lose even more milk. Then the camel pooped…practically ON her.  Anything that could’ve gone wrong did go wrong!  It was hysterical.  I have never witnessed a mental breakdown quite like hers.  I think this image says it all.

When You Take Cash Cab on the Road November 14, 2007

For those of you who are fans of the show Cash Cab, then you’ll love the fact that they now have podcasts. I subscribed to their podcast and downloaded approximately fourteen episodes. Be forewarned: they are audio only, no video. Bummer, I know. However, they make for great road trip listening. We played through a few of the episodes on our trip to South Carolina last weekend and I think Casey and I would do well in the Cash Cab…now if only I can get Casey to take me back to NYC. Of course, I don’t mind holding out until the stagehands strike is over because my main reason for heading to NYC would be to catch Jersey Boys and shop at Uniqlo!!

For those of you who had been tuning in to the once a week episode of Cash Cab: After Dark, I don’t think it’s on the air anymore. The Discovery Channel no longer has it on their listings. I’m very disappointed because it was a great concept, but I don’t believe it was advertised very well.
